Sabaoth

early 14c., from L.L., from Gk. Sabaoth, from Heb. tzebhaoth "hosts, armies," plural of tzabha "army."

A word translated in O.T. in phrase "the Lord of Hosts," but originally left untranslated in N.T. and "Te Deum" in the designation Lord of Sabaoth; often confused with sabbath (q.v.).
